Social competence

Being aware of the place and role of native and foreign languages in the whole multicultural, multilingual world as means of communication, cognition, self-realisation and social adaptation; self-identification in the system of values and forming basics of outlook in relation to the world, culture, society, system of education which form the base for forming civil personal identity and understanding the appropriateness of the choice of the profession; raising learners’ awareness of - humanistic values and norms of behaviour such as: value of education in the modern society; democratic values: respecting personality, value of cultural diversity, involvement of everybody in taking decisions and group work, diversity of opinions; active life and civil position; careful attitude: to environment, family values, healthy lifestyle as a norm of behaviour: nurturing qualities of a citizen and patriot, developing national identity, strive for mutual understanding among people of various communities, tolerance towards manifestations of other culture; enhancing learners’ readiness and desire to interact with representatives of other cultures in the foreign language, self-confidence, as well as empathy and ability to deal with difficult situation with the help of role playing communicative situations of the topic content of speech in a FL .
