Applicant host organizations and apprentices must identify match placements themselves and
negotiate and planned the proposed research they intend to undertake under the Research
Apprenticeship Program (see “How to Apply”).
EN / RU

Host organizations must designate a manager or senior researcher who will serve as a mentor
to the apprentice. Mentors will be responsible for helping the apprentice create a work plan for
the apprenticeship, providing ongoing on-the-job training and guidance to the apprentice and
overseeing the completion of the apprentice’s research and other deliverables.
Once selected, host organizations and apprentices will be responsible for formalizing a
schedule and table of deliverables that clearly outline expectations for both parties and
submitting to EF for approval. All apprenticeships are expected to include at least 20 hours of
work by the apprentice each week that is performed during normal business hours (8:00 to
18:00, Monday through Friday).
Stipends for Apprentices
Each month, apprentices will receive a stipend of $500 USD (including taxes).* Apprentices
will be responsible for maintaining a timesheet to track hours worked each month, including
short summaries of the activities they have completed.
Why Host?
Potential benefits for host organizations include: additional vetted researchers to support
existing projects; knowledge and methods of analysis brought by apprentices that reflect new
trends and concepts; identification of talented potential employees; and much more. Host
organizations are not required to compensate apprentices, who will receive monthly stipends
from EF through the Research Apprenticeship Program.
Host organizations will also receive $200 USD* per month per apprentice, intended to offset
overhead costs related to each apprenticeship.
*Please note that for RAP participants from Kazakhstan, stipends must be paid to the recipient
in Kazakhstani tenge at the official exchange rate on date of signing the agreement.
