Clay rendering
IRPs can produce renderings without displaying textures. These clay renderings have a similar 
appearance to physically built models (Fig. 19.9, Fig. 19.10, Fig. 19.11). They can be overlaid on 
a rendering in the postproduction process to create contrast and provide additional depth.

Dynamic rendering
Dynamic rendering allows you to adjust the camera view, lighting, and texture during the 
rendering process. It allows you to make changes on the fly and create multiple rendered images.
IBL/hDrI Lighting
IBL is image-based lighting. HDRI stands for High Dynamic Range Images and is considered 
an IBL. Photographs created in HDRI contain lighting information that is inserted and 
referenced by the IRP. The IRP samples the light in the photo using it to generate the render.
IeS Lighting Profile
IES profiles are specific metrics used to simulate real-world light sources and fixtures. IES 
profiles can be inserted into the IRP, which will then render simulated light based on the 
IES profile.
Instanced rendering
Instancing refers to how the IRP’s rendering engine treats components. Instead of processing 
every single component in a SketchUp file, the IRP looks for identical components and 
processes only one of them.
Instancing allows you to create very large renders that include forests of trees and objects. 
Because only one of the trees is processed, the IRP can easily process and render the rest 
(Fig. 19.12, Fig. 19.13).
