Vygotsky Lev Semenovich - Soviet psychologist, scientist, founder of cultural-historical theory in the field of psychology, one of the founders of neurophysiology. Author of numerous studies on pedology, literature, psychology of the arts. Vygotsky made a great contribution to psychology. His works on child psychology have been recognized by authoritative scientists all over the world.
Lev Simkhovich Vygodsky (real name ) was born on November 5, 1896 in Orsha in the family of a merchant and teacher.
After graduating from the university, Vygotsky took up teaching. He worked not only in schools, but also in various colleges.
In 1923, as a teacher at a pedagogical college, Vygotsky organized a psychological laboratory and supervised the experimental work of students. The results of this research work were presented by Vygotsky at the All-Russian Congress on Psychoneurology in Petrograd in 1924. The report of the young scientist received high marks, and Vygotsky himself realized that psychology would henceforth be his most important work.
After his speech at the conference, Vygotsky received an invitation to the Moscow Institute of Experimental Psychology. He created his own cultural-historical and psychological school on the basis of the institute.
In his work, Vygotsky set himself a difficult task: to find explanations of mental processes not in the person himself, but in his interaction with the environment. The scientist believed that these processes can be fully understood only in development, which is typical only for a child. So Lev Semyonovich began to work in the direction of child psychology.
Vygotsky wrote many works on child psychology, the most important of which were The Psychology of Art, Thinking and Speech, The Psychology of Child Development, and Pedagogical Psychology.
Lev Semenovich became the founder of such new separate sciences as psychological pedagogy, pedology -knowledge about the child from the point of view of various sciences, correctional pedagogy, designed to help children with developmental problems.
