in the United States. It is the eighth-tallest freestanding structure in the world. It is one 
of the most popular tourist destinations in Chicago. More than one million people visit 
its observation deck every year.

is an iron tower in Paris. It cost £35 million to build. It is 300 me-
tres tall, but this height does not include the 24 m antenna on the top; the total height 
of the structure is 324 m (1058 feet). It has three levels for visitors, with restaurants

e top level’s upper platform is 276 m above the ground, the 
highest accessible to the public in the European Union. 50 people worked on the design, 
and more than 100 built the parts. 132 workers assembled the parts on site. It was built 
between 1887 and 1889 for the Exposition Universelle. Th
e Tower was the Exposition’s 
main attraction. Construction began on January 28, 1887 and was concluded on March 
31, 1889.

is a skyscraper in Chicago. It is 344 meters (1,127 feet) tall 
and has 100 fl oors, including an observation deck on the 94th fl oor (1,000 feet). It 
was built in 1969 and is one of the tallest buildings in the world. From the 95th fl oor 
restaurant, diners can look out at Chicago and Lake Michigan. Th
e Observatory (360 
Chicago) has a 360° view of the city, up to four states, and a distance of over 80 miles 
(130 km).
