Deaf pedagogy(Latin surdus deaf and pedagogy) - a branch of defectology; develops special education and upbringing of deaf or hard of hearing children. S. includes the history of the theory of teaching deaf or hard of hearing children, the psychological development of deaf and hard of hearing children, the teaching of academic subjects, the teaching of pronunciation and "lip reading", the teaching of labor, and the methods of educational work. S. studies the developmental characteristics of deaf or hard of hearing children and develops the basics of the structure of the special educational process, the procedure for establishing special educational institutions. By learning the basics of science, children with hearing impairments develop oral speech. Speech organs are shown when words are pronounced to teach the hearing impaired. As a result of these actions, the hearing impaired learn to distinguish between sounds and words, that is, to "read by the lips." Weak listeners who have learned to repeat speech movements will be able to speak. Deaf people can also speak using a special alphabet - dactylology.
