SECTION 8004) AND BETHLEHEM ORDINANCE NO.
3952 AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, it is proposed to replace existing awning fabric and add signage at 308 S. New Street
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bethlehem that a Certificate of Appropriateness is hereby granted for the work.

CASE # 231 – It is proposed to replace the slate roof at 420 Broadway OWNER: Roberto Cruz
The Commission upon motion by Mr. Lezoche and seconded by Mr. Cornish adopted the proposal that City Council issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the proposed work described herein:

The proposal to replace the slate roof at 420 Broadway was presented by Roberto Cruz.

The existing slate is in very deteriorated condition.
-
The slate will be replaced with GAF Slateline fiberglass shingles in the Antique Gray color.
-
Deteriorated wood on the front porch and other parts of the house will be repaired in-kind. If in-kind replacement is not possible, the work needs to come to the Historic Commission for review of the proposed changes.

The proposed work was approved by a unanimous vote.

CASE # 232 – It is proposed to replace the front windows at 12-14 W. Fourth St. OWNER: Linda Villani, et al.
The Commission upon motion by Mr. Evans and seconded by Mr. Cornish adopted the proposal that City Council issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the proposed work described herein:

The proposal to replace the front windows at 12-14 W. Fourth Street was presented by Linda Villani.

Because of the deteriorated condition of the historic sashes, the sashes may be replaced with new Marvin, custom-made, replacement windows.
-
The new windows will reduce the historic window opening by no more than 1-1/2” on each side.

The new windows will be fabricated by Marvin and will include Kokomo stained glass in the upper sashes matching that in the historic sashes.

The colors and textures of the glass will be as submitted to the Historic Commission.

The upper sashes will have single glass and the lower sashes will have insulating glass.
-
Storm windows will be installed over the new windows to match the other windows.

The historic window sashes will be saved and stored or displayed in a dry, weather protected area.

The proposed work was approved by a unanimous vote.

The Commission upon motion by Mr. Lezoche and seconded by Ms. Pongracz adopted the proposal that City Council issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the proposed work described herein:

The proposal to replace existing awning fabric and add signage at 308 S. New Street was presented by Emmanuel Mackrides.

The existing awning structure will be reused.
-
The new awning fabric will be black Sunbrella with white lettering on the slope of the awning.

The lettering style for the signage will be as shown on the sketch submitted to the Historic Commission.

The ends of the awning will be open rather than closed as on the previous awning.

The proposed work was approved by a unanimous vote.
