Conclusion
On the basis of the conducted research, we can draw certain conclusions. In his novel, Joyce set himself the task of showing life in a way that no one else could, to make the day endless. Leopold Bloom's depiction of the endless but quite ordinary day of an ordinary Irish Jew leads the reader to the idea that the human life and characters of both the Homeric era and modern Ireland are the same that an eternal repetition takes place, albeit with a reduced meaning. A variety of methods and techniques help the writer to achieve such a deep sound.
1. The peculiarity of Joyce's novel is a huge number of historical, philosophical, literary and cultural aspects hidden behind an unpretentious plot. Thematic “layering” makes the reader take a deeper look at the usual events and relationships, and allows the author himself to “encrypt” his own vision of various life situations.
2. Each successive chapter is written in a peculiar style, or rather, with a predominance of a different style. All the stylistic diversity of the novel can be divided into three groups: Joyce's "original, pure", "stream of consciousness" and parodies. These stylistic experiments allow the writer not only to create the uniqueness of each episode, but also to portray his characters in a deeper, more versatile way. In addition, the diversity of Joyce's techniques is a reflection of the searches of most artists of the era of modernism, a reflection of the tragic perception of reality, a deep understanding of the complex world of man himself.
3. The "decomposition" of the language and all sorts of experiments with it that can be found in the novel, not only do not break the system of the language, but, on the contrary, show its limitless possibilities.
4. Joyce's free handling of the various genre forms used in Ulysses helps the writer achieve his goal of likening a literary work to human life, to the human body.
Thus, we have seen that Joyce's novel Ulysses is not only a reflection of modernist quests, but also an encyclopedia of modernism, on the basis of which many other writers of the twentieth century will learn and develop. Since, according to the translators of the novel, its researchers, a very large number of its mysteries remain unsolved, interest in this one of the most mysterious, encrypted books will arise for a long time to come. James Joyce himself spoke about this. Joyce's writing talent, in which absolute ear for music, the ability for synthetic-associative perception of reality and the subtlest sense of the word are brilliantly combined, is a rather rare phenomenon.
