Present Continuous

Modal Verbs 
So’zlovchining ish-harakat munosabatini (ishonch, majburiyat, qobiliyat va hokazo) bildiradigan 
fe’llar. Modal fe’llar quyidagi xususiyatlarga ega.

Modal fe’llar gapda boshqa fe’l bilan ishlatilishi lozim.

2.modal fe’llar faqat bitta shaklga ega-ularning zamon shakllari va tuslanmagan shakllari 
mavjud emas (istisno: can-could, may-might) 
3.
Modal fe’llar hech qanday qo’shimcha (-s/es/ed) olmaydi.\ 
4.
Modal fe’llar so’roq va inkor gaplarda yordamchi fe’llarsiz ishlatilinadi.
Can/Could 
1.Jismoniy va aqliy qobiliyat Ex: My grandmother could sing like an angel. She can read when she 
has free time. 
2.To be able to V1/ to be capable of Ving can modal fe’lining jismoniy qobiliyat ma’nosida 
ekvivalentlari.

Ex: My grandmother was able to sing like an angel. She is capable of reading too fast to 
understand. 
3.Am/is/are to V1/ Am/is/are of Ving ma’lum bir qiyinchilik bilan bog’liq bo’lgan hozirgi 
zamondagi qobiliyatni bildirish uchun ishlatilinadi. Ex: Despite he is handicap he is able to drive a 
car. 
4.Could o’tgan zamonda mavjud bo’lgan qobiliyat (qila olardi), was/were able toV1 ma’lum bir 
vaziyatda amalga oshgan ish-harakat, was/were able to V1ning o’rniga managed to V1 yoki 
succeeded in Ving kabi fe’llarni ham ishlatish mumkin. Ex: He could read and write at an early 
age. There was fire in the building. Fortunately, everybody was able to escpe. I managed to buy a 
really nice coat yesterday. 
5.Lekin: see(ko’rmoq) hear(eshitmoq) taste (ta’m sezmoq) feel (his qilmoq) guess (taxmin qilmoq) 
smell(hid sezmoq) understand (tushunmoq) remember (eslamoq) kabi fe’llar bilan kelganda could 
fe’li bir martalik ish-harakatni bildirishi mumkin. Ex: I could smell something burning. I could 
understand everything she said. 
6.Couldn’t o’tgan zamonda qobiliyati bo’lmaganini yoki ma’lum ish-harakatni ma’lum bir 
vaziyatdaa bajara olmaganini ifodalaydi. Ex Her grandmother was illiterate: she couldn’t read and 
write. No matter how we tried we couldn’t fix the tyre. 
7.Will be able to V1 kelasi zamondagi qobiliyat yoki imkoniyat, will be able to ma’lum bir 
shartlarga yoki qarorlarga bo’g’liq bo’lgan kelasi zamndage qobiliyat yoki imkoniyat. I will be anle 
to speak French at the end of this course. 
8.Ruxsat (ruxsat so’rash berish yoki rad etish) faqat so’roq gaplarda. Ex: Can I take my book? You 
can leave if you want. 
9.Could/was/were allowed/permitted to V1 o’tgan zamondagi umumiy ruxsat, was/were 
allowed/permitted to V1 o’tgan zamonda bitta ish-harakatni qilish uhun ruxsat. When I was a 
child, I could watch TV whenever I wanted to. Although he didn’t have a ticket, Ken was allowed 
to come in. Yesterday evening, Peter was allowed/permitted to watch TV for an hour. 
10.Couldn’t/ was/were not allowed to V1 o’tgan zamondagi ham umumiy vaziyet ham xususiy 
holat.
Ex: When I was a child, I couldn’t watch TV whenever I wanted to. Last century, women were not 
allowed to(=couldn’t) vote.

Possibility-
can presentda could o’tgan zamondagi imkoniyatni ifodalaydi. Ex: It is a place 
whereyou can buy everything you want. We can go to Paris this weekend, because I don’t have to 
work.

Could have V3 
O’tgan zamonda amalga oshishi mumkin bo’lgan, lekin amalga oshmagan ish-
harakat Ex: I could have won the game but decided to let her win.
Why did you jump out of the window? You could have hurt yourself.
