4. Stirling Castle


S tirling Castle - is one of the largest and most important, historically and architecturally, castles in Scotland. The castle is situated on Castle Hill, which is part of the geological formation of Stirling. It is surrounded on three sides by cliffs, which gives it a strong defensive position. Most of the major buildings of the castle date from the fifteenth and sixteenth in the century. Several Scottish kings and queens were crowned at Stirling, including Mary, Queen of Scots in 1543. The castle withstood sieges and eight more Scottish warrior for independence.
And of course, this castle has its ghost. They say that from time to time, you can see the ghost of a maid (Queen Mary) in the green dress.
