Let’s return to our example of Allisha Miller and her 300-room hotel. Consider
the number of additional hotel records that might be of value, including reports such
as those listed in Figure 11. A sophisticated PMS can generate dozens of such reports
based on management’s specific needs and requests. The number of reports is limit-
ed only by the imagination of the system’s programmers and the skill level of the
hoteliers advising them. One of the most important factors to consider when evalu-
ating a specific PMS is the number and quality of useful records that can be produced
in a functional format. A modern PMS can maintain a wide range of hotel statistics
and records. Of these, the most important are the many records related to the hotel’s
financial accounts.
