Mid-price limited-service hotel:
Lodging property within the limited-service segment that offers select-
ed property and within-room upgrade amenities for room rates that are higher than budget (economy)
hotels within the limited-service segment.
Frequent-traveler program:
Program developed to reward a hotel company’s guests with free room nights,
frequent-flyer airline miles, and other awards as an incentive to book rooms at a property within the brand.
Popular mid-price brands include Marriott’s Fairfield Inn, Hilton’s Hampton
Inn, InterContinental’s Holiday Inn Express, Carlson Country Inns & Suites, and
Choice’s Comfort Inn. Mid-price hotels make up the largest portion of the limited-
service market, and each brand has developed its own loyal clientele.
Some travelers do not want to pay for the restaurants, lounges, gift shops and meeting
spaces found at full-service hotels; they do, however, desire the comfort and amenities
offered at the finest full-service properties. For these guests, upscale limited-service hotels
provide the comfort, convenience, and in many cases, the elegance these travelers desire.
