Accommodations (Lodging) Segment Where can people sleep safely when they are away from home? Several types of organ-
izations are part of in the accommodations (lodging) segment of the hospitality
industry:

Hotels. Hotels may be large or small, relatively inexpensive or highly priced.
Guests may drive up to the front door of their room or take an elevator up
many stories to their room. Properties may or may not offer foodservices, and
they may be located along a highway, or in a city or suburb, or at an airport
Hotel rooms are designed to provide a comfortable place of lodging for lodging guests.
Different types of guests define “comfort” differently, and hotel managers must know about
and address the comfort needs of their target markets.
