Part 1: Living In A Foreign Country
Have you ever lived in a foreign country?
Yes, quite a few, actually. In fact, I’ve been moving around my whole life. I’ve lived in England,
Scotland, Spain, China and now I live in Ireland. However, I don’t think I’ll necessarily move to any new
countries in the future- I’m keen to 
settle down
in one place.
What kind of people like to live in a foreign country?
Hmm, that’s a strange question. All sorts, I guess. Ultimately, there’s a variety of reasons why people
move to a foreign country. They might have 
emigrated 
in order to find work, or in search of a different
lifestyle or climate, for example. Some move so that their children have a different 
upbringing
, some are
forced to move because of troubles in their home country. I don’t think there’s necessarily a “kind of
people” who live in a foreign country.
What can make living in a foreign country exciting?
Certainly, learning a new language and being exposed to a new culture are very exciting; meeting
people with a different 
value system
or 
etiquette
; seeing new architecture; trying new food- there’s a lot
that makes living in foreign countries exciting.
What can make it difficult to form close relationships in a foreign country?
Interesting question. First and foremost, I’d say the 
language barrier
. Unless two people speak the
same language fluently, it’s difficult to form a very 
deep relationship
. I’d also say that not having a
shared experience growing up can make it difficult to form deep relationships. I don’t think this is always
the case, but I think many people find it easier to connect deeply with others that have had a similar
upbringing and childhood. That’s just my theory anyway.
