THE IMPORTANCE OF ERROR CORRECTION IN TEACHING FOREIGN
LANGUAGES
Nazarova Sayyora Azimjanovna
A teacher of Foreign languages Department
of Tashkent Institute of Finance
Annotation:
The primary purpose of learning any foreign language is to be able to
communicate in it. During the learning process, all students make mistakes, and it is the
responsibility of teachers to correct them. As a result, a significant element of the teacher's
job is to avoid and eliminate errors. There are two reasons why people make mistakes. The
interference or transfer of grammar structures and vocabulary from the native language to
the foreign language is the first explanation. The student's lack of knowledge of any
grammar rules is the second cause. Such faults, in my opinion, will gradually fade away
over the learning process. When it comes to speaking English, many students are concerned
about making mistakes.
Key words
:
error correction, mistakes, language acquisition, teacher fails, speaking
and listening errors.
In such a setting, constant rectification of errors renders the language acquisition
process useless. First and foremost, the teacher should emphasize to their students that a
lack of fear of making a mistake will aid their learning of a foreign language. Second, the
teacher must devise many effective methods for preventing errors. Third, if errors occur, the
creation and use of specialized training materials will aid in the resolution of the issues.
Should the teacher, on the other hand, correct all errors? It is determined by the lesson's goal
and the characteristics of the training practice. If the aim of the lesson is repetition, such as
"plural nouns," the teacher may or may not correct stylistic or other types of faults. Not only
students, but also teachers, can benefit from categorizing errors into several sorts
(grammatical, lexical, spelling, etc.). The pupils will be aware of the topics on which they
should focus their efforts. The teachers will be aware of all students' knowledge gaps. It will
be beneficial to pay close attention to the most common mistakes made by students and to
obtain instructional materials that will assist in their elimination. The teachers should not
only use red to highlight or cross out the problems. The red-blue blend in the student's
copybook can lower his mood and make him feel confused. Different colors might be used
to highlight the students' errors. Teachers can also categorize them using different symbols
that represent different types of errors. Bright colors can be used to draw attention to the
most serious faults. Pale colors can be used to emphasize less important faults. Furthermore,
the teacher should demonstrate both the disadvantages and benefits of completed task. It
will assist in achieving a balance between rectifying errors and inspiring students.
The learners may need to be corrected in some circumstances. Sometimes the teacher
must point out a mistake and ask the learners to correct it, while other times the best course
