can be an individual or a household in representation of all the members for 
example. 
The selection of the statistical unit is chosen depending on the particular application 
of the survey.

The best from quantitative and qualitative approaches can be mixed to produce a 
framework from which the information can be extracted. 
Applications 
Through the use of applications, the coordinates of the O-D can be traced, producing 
what is call the 
desired line
. Or a continuous tracking can be done. Also sensors from 
the smart phone can be used for the detection of the mode of transport 
(accelerometer, gyroscope, etc.)

Analyzing the travelers behavior is fundamental for a sustainable transition in order

The role of technology 
ICT technologies are making easier the work for collecting the data, but the analysis 
can be done only by persons, and also the output decisions. 
Technology is not providing new transport modes, nor business models, there is the 
need of a shift that now can be seen only through education.
