1.  The obvious difference between the young and adults in the aspect of
spending spare time is the type of activity. Adults usually do physically
demanding tasks that the latter avoid. What interest children are those
activities that allow fun and are easily done, such as playing with toys and
doing chasing games or hide-and-seek with friends. Adult activities are
usually done with goals set; however, children do something for fun and
friendship.
2.  A bicycle does not require gasoline and other forms of fuel in order to
move. Thus, they are more economical than cars. A bicycle is also good for
your health and the environment. It can help us stay fit without going to the
gym, and it protects the environment for it doesn’t emit greenhouse gases
unlike cars.
3.  I write a letter when I communicate to my old friends in my hometown
since they do not have computers and any access to the Internet. This is the
only way I can keep in touch with them and them with me since this is
affordable and is the only form of communication they know. Compared to
e-mail and the phone, writing a letter can be done without electricity.
4.  I think the violin is a better instrument to play over the piano when
someone needs to learn how to play a musical instrument. The first reason
is that the former is portable. It is light and small, so you can carry it
anywhere you go; you can also play music without considering the place.
Secondly, when you play the violin, you do not have to worry about the
different notes your hands have to create as you do with the latter.

5.  There will be a lot of changes in transportation in the future. First, I think
there are going to be electric cars since people will be very concerned about
carbon dioxide emissions. Second, mass transport will be very
environmentally friendly and cheap because the government will push
through the use of fossil fuel.
6.  In the future, I want to be able to see movies wherever I am because
gadgets that allow movie streaming will no longer need an Internet
connection or electricity in order to function. I also look forward to
listening to music from different countries without worrying about the
lyrics because of a built-in translation device.
7.  I love eating pinakbet. It’s a Filipino dish with a lot of vegetables like
squash, string beans, bitter gourd, and shrimp paste. These ingredients are
just mixed and cooked through stir-frying. This is perfect for lunch or
dinner and is usually coupled with rice.
8.  I can’t really give vivid details of how I spent my spare time in my younger
years. What I can remember is that on weekends, I would go to our farm
and help my older sister harvest vegetables. I used to spend several hours
on this. And in the afternoon, I would play with friends for an hour and go
home to review some lessons. These were the typical activities I had in my
free time.
9.  In my first company’s library, I had a chance to read a book written by
Stephen R. Covey. It was called The Seven Habits of Highly Effective
People. After I had read the first few pages of the book, I was really so
captivated that I didn’t stop reading until finishing it. This interest was
caused by the practical insights shared by the author on how to change our
perspectives, how to control the environment, and how to manage time. An
hour of reading before bedtime couldn’t be enough for me to absorb the
brilliant ideas in the book, which are really useful for living a more
productive life.
10.  It is really hard to draw a conclusive statement as to what the most famous
movie genre in the Philippines is because each movie type is a box office
hit in each corresponding period. For instance, war movies were really a hit
in the ’50s after World War II. At present, this genre does not really appeal
to moviegoers, but comedy-fantasy movies turn out to be blockbusters very
