Dr. 
Jeong-ryeol Kim
is a professor of English at Korea National University of Education 
(the Normal University training all levels of school teachers from kindergarten to high 
school) and the president of Korea Association of Foreign Languages Education. He 
earned his PhD in applied linguistics with the University of Hawaii. He served as the 
deputy dean of In-service Teacher Training Center and the director of planning at Korea 
National University of Education. He has previously served as the president of Primary 
English Education, the president of Korea TESOL, the vice president of Korea Association 
of Teachers of English (KATE) and the 1
st
vice president of the Korea Association of 
Primary English Education. He has participated in Korean national curriculum project, 
Korea Scholastic Ability Test, English Teacher Employment Exam, English Textbook 
project, and various projects with the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation and 
Korea Education Research Information Services.
He received an excellent paper award from the Modern English Education Society with 
“Automatic Selection Criteria for Listening Test.” He also received an excellent academic 
book award from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with Web-based English Education, 
from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology with History of English Education 
in Korea, from the National Academy of Science with ICT-based English Education. He 
has published books in the areas of e-Learning, teaching methodology and classroom 
observation. He has also published papers in the area of e-Learning (IWB teaching and 
learning model, IWB effects study, on/off-blended learning), teacher development and 
teaching methods/effects.
