INTRODUCTION. 
Tashkent is the one largest megalopolises in the Central Asia with 
precipitation, about 415 mm (16.5 in) per year, occurs mostly from November to May, while in 
summer, it almost never rains. Rainwater coming down through the atmosphere is by and large 
very pure except for the atmospheric impurities getting into it [1]. With the increasing of rainfall 
duration, the concentrations of pollutants in runoff descend and tend to be stable till the rain 
stops, but the pollutant species are intricate [2]. The most common impurities (or physico-
chemical qualities) investigated in rainwater are microbes (heterotrophic plate count and 
coliform), organic content (carbon and nitrogen), heavy metal (Hg, Pb, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and 
Ni) dust, fine particles (turbidity and solids), and ions (Ca, Mg, Na, K, nitrates, and sulfates) [3]. 
The presence of elevated levels of metals, such as lead, cadmium, and copper, can present an 
issue of concern for human health [4]. Miao-Ching Cheng and at al studied four typhoon events 
are collected from Tainan city, southern Taiwan and analyzed for major ions, heavy metals and 
Pb isotopes to elucidate mechanisms causing dissolved components variation in rainwater and to

understand how heavy metals are transported by air-mass along typhoon pathways [5]. 
Pavements of roads and parking lots with intensive vehicle traffic are important potential sources 
of metals. Direct pollutant sources include products formed as a result of abrasion of pavements, 
tires, brake shoes as well as leaks of gear oil, lubricant, brake fluid or corrosion products. Tire 
wear leads to the release of oxides of such metals as Zn, Pb, Cu, Cr and Ni, while wear of brake 
shoes produces mainly oxides of Ni Cr, Cu and Pb. In turn, Fe may originate from worn brake 
drums [6]. The research study by authors [7] investigated the impacts of such changes in urban 
traffic and rainfall characteristics on the build-up and wash-off of heavy metals. The chemical 
composition of precipitation can also be affected by rainfall rate and amount, cloud base height, 
and the air mass back trajectories [8], varying from site to site and region to region [9], 
indicating the local influences and characteristics of atmospheric pollutants. Rainwater 
composition reflects the quality of the atmosphere during the occurrence of rainfall [10].
This study investigated the concentrations of metal ions and other chemical substances in 
samples, sampled from seven sampling regions of Tashkent. The effect of the volume of rainfall 
in the sampling and preceding month, chemical contamination of sampling and sample pH was 
examined.
