between central and regional tourism administrations is clearly divided. Tourism
activities in India and Malaysia are an example of this model and Uzbekistan has
been following the same path.
In France, tourism regulation is in the hands of the Ministry of Transport and
Public Works, which includes the State Secretariat of Tourism and Tourism
Management. And there are many bodies engaged in tourism management.
Representatives of the central executive bodies, which resolve tourism development
problems, carry out activities at the regional level.
The international promotion of France as a tourism center is carried out by
Maison de la France. The association currently comprises around 800 members. The
association employs over 200 and 33 representatives working in 26 countries of the
world. The association’s governing body is the board of directors consisting of 27
members (government officials account for one-third, and two-thirds are
representatives of private businesses). The association’s activities are 60% funded
from the state budget.
The UK tourism industry is under the control of the Department for Digital,
Culture, Media and Sport, and a body that directly coordinates tourism activities (Visit
Britain) is accountable to the Department. This body works to attract foreign tourists
to the UK, to develop domestic tourism and is a tourism adviser to the government and
other government institutions.
Laws, which regulate the tourism industry, can also be considered in the course
of research. For instance, Serbian tourism laws are based on the Law on Tourism. The
law governs conditions and methods of planning and tourism development. It covers
national, provincial and local levels of self-government and provides coordination
among various levels of power. It also provides for a comprehensive approach
towards tourism planning and development; proclaims steady use of the tourism
space, identifies activities of special importance for tourism development; sets
categories for tourist places and offers financial incentives for tourism development.
Documents that contain measures to plan and develop tourism activities include the
tourism development strategy for the Republic of Serbia, a chief strategic plan, a
strategic marketing plan, a tourist products development program, a tourism
development program and an advertising program.
In Malta, the law on tourism and tourist services was passed for the purpose
