Introduction:
Colorectal cancer (CRC), one of the most common diagnosed 
malignant neoplasms, is considered to be the third among all cancers, as well as on 
the second place in terms of mortality in the world [1].
 
Age-standardized incidence 
and mortality rates are 19.7 and 8.9 per 100,000, respectively, worldwide. Health 
expenditures regarding oncology care put more and more pressure on public budgets 
in most of the countries [2,3].
 
They are even more challenging for most developing 
societies, like Balkan countries, due to the economic crisis in Balkan populations and 
prior civil war for most of them [4]. 
Goal: 
The aim of the study was to evaluate most important epidemiological 
indicators of CRC in 11 selected Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 
Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, The Republic of 
North Macedonia and Turkey).
