Dear ladies and gentlemen!
Textiles and clothing are among the most important sectors of the Turkish economy and foreign 
trade. In the 1980s, the textile industry turned to exports and positioned itself as a core industry 
on the path to economic development. It has supported the steady wage growth and welfare 
increase in our country with its contribution to other industries and wide-ranging employment 
opportunities in all segments of the society.
The economic indicators of the sector demonstrate its power in the total economy of Turkiye. 
Turkish textile industry saw its historical peak with an export figure of 12.9 billion dollars with an 
increase of 33.2 in 2021. Turkish companies export textile products to more than 200 countries 
and regions as the 5th largest textile and apparel supplier in the world, well-known for the high-
quality production, particularly in knitted and denim fabrics.
Turkey is also rapidly developing its capacity for textile machinery production through textile and 
apparel production as well.
The textile industry of Uzbekistan continues to attract significant foreign investment. As a matter 
of fact, the sheer number of Turkish companies participating in the exhibition is a testament to the 
degree of cooperation that Turkiye and Uzbekistan has now reached.
I strongly believe that Uzbek and Turkish firms will establish fruitful collaborations by taking 
advantage of the opportunities in this fair and that “UzTextileExpo Spring 2022” will be another 
accomplishment for all sides.
