FORMATION OF THE ENGLISH TERMINOLOGICAL SYSTEM OF
TOURISM

In any branch of human activity, one of the key problems is the presence of a
single conceptual base and the corresponding special subject terminology. Correct
and uniform interpretation of terms and phraseological combinations forms the basis
of the theory. The issue of compiling industry-specific terminological dictionaries is
one of the most urgent in modern applied linguistics. For several decades, this issue
has been discussed in the works of leading foreign linguists, since it is closely related
to such problems as the status of the term and its place in the language system, the
consistency of terminology, the peculiarities of the formation of terminological
systems belonging to different languages, and many other issues [1, 464 p.]

The sphere of rendering tourist services in Uzbekistan is largely focused on
the use of an extensive vocabulary base borrowed from other languages. For
historical and social reasons, English is recognized as the most commonly used
language in the professional tourism industry. Tourism began to develop actively
around the 20th century, and in this regard, the 21st century is often called the
century of tourism. International tourism is growing every year, which contributes to
an increase in the number of international tourists in the world [2, p.34]. For the first
time tourism as an economic activity appeared in England. The development of
language is inconceivable without the development of society, while the connection
between language and society is interdependent. Thus, it can be noted that the
English-language tourism terminology system has already been developed, while the
Uzbek-language one is in the development stage. Modern tourism, acting in the form
of organizing leisure or doing business, is also a system for acquiring new
international communications and tourism links. The large-scale international tourism
industry is transnational in nature. Tourism is experiencing the influence of
globalization, with the help of which a new environment is created where people
travel without strict restrictions and become participants and witnesses of the
interpenetration (integration) of cultures. The process of cultural integration of the
tourist space is expressed in the possibility of expanding the boundaries of tourist
activities. Moreover, cultural integration influences the rules of international
regulation and ethical norms of tourism, as well as technology and communications,
tourism statistics and industry terminology [3, p.23].
As well as other spheres the tourism industry is also experiencing the
transformative impact of globalization. The historical development of tourism and
planetary globalization processes, including globalization at the language level has
consolidated English as the basic language of international tourism. The English
language, recognized as the language of international communication, is an officially
recognized tool for fixing, storing and disseminating tourism terms, both in
synchronicity and diachronic [4, p.15].
