Analysing the text
Look at the text a second time and begin to build a picture of how the story progresses.
For example, the story of William Bell starts in 1953 when he is born.
Using the time phrases, we can see that sentence 

‘when he was a child’ is the next earliest 
word in the passage.
Most people are at school when they are fifteen and all the other sentences talk about 
William after he had left school, Sentence 

is the next one. It is also the first time the text refers to 
him becoming ‘a very good horse rider ‘and winning a competition.
The next sentence in the sequence is 
D
. We know this because it talks about his further 
success (after winning the competition).
Sentence 

talks about his popularity. Although ‘success’ and ‘popularity’ are not exact 
synonyms, we know that ‘popularity’ connects with the previous paragraph.
The all other sentences are about his life working with horses except one sentence which 
talks about him retiring. Sentence 
E
starts with ‘eventually’ (which means ‘in the end’ or ‘finally’). 
We know that this must be the last sentence.
When you have finished the text read it quietly to yourself. Ask yourself if it sounds right.
So correct answer for above questions would be as per below:

APTIS Reading Part 2: Example Question #2
Here is an example of the type of question you will get in this part of the reading test.
Part 2: The sentences below are from a biography. Order the sentences (B-F) to make a story. The 
first sentence of the story (A) is an example.

This report gives information regarding public transportation in the 
city. 

They all agreed that there is not enough service in morning rush 
hour. 

When he was a child, he lived on a farm and he loved animals..

We interviewed 1000 citizens who take the bus at least 5 days a 
week. 

Additionally, they said that the busses are too crowded. 

He won his first riding competition when he was fifteen. 

This is why we believe we must add more vehicles to busy routes.
