FRONT OFFICE SEMANTICS
Sellout:
Night on which a hotel expects to achieve 100 percent occupancy.
Today, it is easier for FOMs to use forecasting data at any time, not only in peri-
ods of exceptionally high demand. FOMs can, with a few computer keystrokes, mod-
ify room rates carried in their PMS and publish these modified rates worldwide
through the Global Distribution System (GDS) and Internet. As a result, the time
required for FOMs to inform travel professionals and individual travelers about new
room rates is measured in seconds.
