reduce the ability to discuss and contemplate
difficulties [22], and in this context DSH may
represent an impulsive response to problems
in an attempt to find an immediate relief for
distress or an escape from a troubling situation,
rather than using problem-solving strategies or
accessing social support to work out a solution.
Young people who are socially or emotionally
isolated, and particularly those who lack a
family confidant(e) with whom they can share
problems, are at increased risk of self-harm [23].
