(2003) analysed the technique of measurement of human development
indices and to bring forth the degree of gaps in different regions of the world and also in
different states of India. He concluded that human development is a broader term which
conveys planning for a tolerable life for human beings. Poverty is a very micro term,
which is either confined to income poverty or calorie poverty. Human development
indices show critical scenario for developing countries, least developed countries, Sub-
Saharan African countries, South Asian Countries and a few other countries of
Southeast Asia.
