The  Lewis  acidity  of  zinc  deposited  on  surface  enhanced 

catalytic  activity  due  to  enhanced  dispersion  in  reaction 

mixture.  The  catalytic  activity  was  preserved  even  after  five 

consecutive  runs,  with  slight  decrease  in  reaction  yield.  The 

leaching  test  was  also  conducted  and  exhibited  no 

contribution  from  homogeneous  leached  species  of  the 

catalyst.
