The general phonetic principles of the classification of con
sonant sounds are as follows:
1) the place of articulation;
2) the manner of production;
3) the presence or absence of voice;
4) the position of the soft palate.
According to place of articulation the consonants may be la
bial and pharyngal
(JW).
Labial consonants are divided into bila
bial (as English /р/, /b/, /m/, /w/) and labio-dental (English /f/,
