  Uzbekistan's labor force was 18.8 million in 2018, consisting of an econom-

ically-active population of 14.6 million and an economically-inactive popu-

lation of 4.2 million. A total of 13.2 million people was employed, of which 

5.3 million held jobs in the formal sector and 7.9 million (or 59.3 percent of 

total employment) were employed informally. Of the 7.9 million jobs in the 

informal sector, the number of workers employed in seasonal and tempo-

rary informal jobs was 1.6 million; labor migrants finding jobs  abroad to-

taled 2.6 million in 2018.
