Activity 1 Listen and sing.
Objective: to warm up and revise colours
Look at Unit 7, Lesson 1, Activity 1 for instructions.
Activity 2 Play “What Colour is Winter?”
Objective: to introduce the question “What colour is winter?” and the answer “Winter is white”.
First, repeat the material of the previous lesson on the seasons and the question “What season is it?” Show the
pictures of all the seasons, ask questions about them and get answers like “It‟s winter”.
Then say that you will now ask a new question about the song “Spring is green”, and ask “What colour is
winter?”. Explain that the word “colour” denotes “rang/цвет” and the question “What colour is winter?” means “Qish
qanday rangda?/Какого цвета зима?” in Uzbek/Russian. Ask the pupils whether they remember what colour the winter
is. Surely, their answer will be “oq/белая”. Clarify that “oq/белая” is “white” in English. After that, together with the
children practise the answer “Winter is white”.
Further, explain that the children need to be careful because they will have to say the colour of the season which is
said in the question. So ask “What colour is spring?” and have the pupils translate the question into their native language.
Then ask pupils to answer the question. Listen to the answers and select the right one. Praise the children and say that the
answer is correct because “spring” is “bahor/весна”, and the spring is green. So the correct answer is “Spring is green”.
After that, work on the sentence in chorus. Further, work on the rest seasons of the year.
The children must be taught to give an answer as it sounds in the song.
