Introduction. In our domestic pharmaceutical market, plants are widely used as a source of 
biologically active substances. Preparations obtained from plant raw materials have many 
advantages than synthetic drugs. One of these medicinal plants is widely known ginseng.
Ginseng (the root of Panax ginseng) is a valuable oriental herb, which has been used in traditional

medicine for thousands of years, both as a disease-healing drug and a general tonic. The dried roots 
and rhizomes of ginseng contain many physiologically important constituents. These include 
ginseng saponins, ginseng oils and phytosterol, carbohydrates and sugars, organic acids, 
nitrogenous substances, amino acids and peptides, vitamins and minerals, and certain enzymes that 
have been isolated and characterized. The main active ingredients in the Panax species are a group 
of dammarane-type triterpenoid glycosides. They are referred to as saponins. And termed 
ginsenosides or panaxosides. These are in the ginseng root. There are more than thirty 
ginsenosides. The medicinal value of ginseng is now also widely recognized and the world ginseng 
market is expanding.
