newer too long. Held the House where men of higher abilities “bored” it.”

Functions of ellipsis. In literature ellipsis is mainly used in dialogue where it is consciously 
employed by the author to reflect the natural omissions characterizing oral colloquial 
speech. Elliptical sentence saves only the most vital information letting out those bits of 
it which can be easily reassembled from the situation. The main function of ellipsis is 
achieving the authenticity and plausibility of fictitious dialogue. 
Repetition 
is a syntactical stylistic device that repeats the same words or phrases a few 
times to make an idea clearer. There are several types of repetitions commonly used in 
both prose and poetry.
