The flag of our country is a symbol of state sovereignty of the republic. The national flag of the Republic of Uz­bekistan is a symbol of the Republic of Uzbekistan in all states when visiting foreign countries by official delegations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as on conferences, world exhibitions and sport competitions.
The national flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a right-angled¹ eoloured² cloth³ consisting of three horizontal stripes:⁴ blue, white and green colours.
Blue colour is the symbol of the sky and water which are the main sources⁵ of the life Mainly the blue colour-was the colour of the state flag of Amir Temur The white colour is the traditional symbol of peace and good luck, as Uzbek people say "0к йуji" (word for word "white road"
Green colour is the colour of na­ture and new life, and good harvest². Two thin³ red stripes mean the power of life. There is a new born moon which means the newly born independent republic.
There are twelve stars which mean that there are 12 provinces (viloyats) in Uzbekistan. The state emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan presents the image⁴ of the raising⁵ sun over the flourishing⁶ valley. We can also see the wheat ears⁷ and branches of cotton there.
The eight-angled star in the emblem symbolizes the unity⁸ of the republic. There are also the sacred⁹ symbols of the Moslems. The .legendary¹⁰ bird Semurg is in the centre of the Emblem as the symbol of the national rebirth¹¹. Behind the composition in the Uzbek language "Uzbekiston" is written.
