Scheme of Interpretation Study of literary discourse from linguistic orientation can add to our comprehension of literature. While doing literary analysis we often ignore the workings of language and because of this ignorance we miss significant points about a literary work. Or it often happens that when we read a literary work we experience particular tones, moods or feelings but we lack a method to fully explore them. In such cases linguistic analysis of those texts can contribute to our understanding of them and it can provide us with evidence to prove and therefore validate our intuitions. Stylistic analysis of texts not only helps us to comprehend them more fully but it can also contribute to our understanding of language system. Yet stylistic approaches can promote language learning, therefore advanced learners of English can exploit such approaches to develop their language proficiency. Thus, analysis contributes to our better understanding of the work and also of the nature of language use. In addition to that, what we gain through this analysis can be of use in second language teaching contexts. In this respect, the practicality of the story for pedagogical purposes and also undertaking stylistic analysis in EFL classrooms are discussed in detail. Often people assume there is one and only one "meaning" that a story has. This is not true. Stories can have more than one meaning; however, this does not mean that stories can have unlimited meanings. The meaning of a story must fit the story: it must be plausible (probable/believable given what the story is about) and reasonable (arguable based on evidence which can be supported by the elements of the story).
