Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. by FGCC President, Robert Murphy
Items of Business:


  • President Robert Murphy’s overview

    • O’Hare runway shift, FAiR Coalition p- City Council hearings near

    • Garden Walk for 2014 coming, volunteers needed!

  • Minutes of October 8, 2013 presented for acceptance (by Michael Nelson)

  • Membership update

    • Status of dues paid (by household)/ Comparison to years past

    • Renewed push for dues/ Call for 2014 snowplow donations

    • New flyers (Steve Reardon)

  • Treasurer’s Report (presented by Jennifer Nykaza)


  • Rummage Sale update (by Gayle Paprocki)

  • Metra meetings with Ald. Laurino and Rep. D’Amico, Metra has agreed to the following:

    • Paint steel bridge

    • Install new metal stairs on west side by end of summer

    • Install pigeon spikes over sidewalks

    • Confirm structural integrity of embankment walls, power wash and/or sandblast walls & whitewash

    • Provided revised Beautification Agreement to include mural work and the addition of triangles on west side of bridge for plants

    • Will look for monies to conduct engineering for upgrading station (potentially by 2015)

    • Has agreed to allow a pass-thru be made to connect with Mariano’s parking lot (need money for walkway)

    • Will clean up underbrush on west side of berm

  • Ald. Laurino has tasked Forest Glen with devising a plan for Metra parking along Forest Glen Ave. to be abandoned

  • Metra has requested that all gardeners sign a waiver (see Joan Schweda)


Jac Charlier & Erin Shipley from Yes! for Independent Maps

They are seeking an independent process for drawing legislative maps.  Yes for Independent Maps is working to place a measure on the November 2014 ballot and needs signatures. For additional info go to:

  • Mural report (presented by Jennifer Nykaza). Volunteers needed! Email or talk to Jennifer after meeting.

NEW BUSINESS Introduction of new Forest Glen Neighbors, presented by Robert Murphy
Next General Meeting: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. to be held at the First Congregational Church of Forest Glen. (Members are invited to arrive early for coffee and to socialize with neighbors before official business begins.)
Next FGCC Executive Committee Meeting: Tuesday, February 18th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
