Strikes at ports of Le Havre and Fos Sur Mer generating disruptions in the harbour traffic (congestion / vessels delays), as from June 22th 2008, implementation of a Port Congestion Surcharge at Le Havre and Fos sur Mer for an amount of USD 250 / Teu.

Restriction on Expedition of Dangerous Products Import / Export North China

Refering to our notice N0 196 dated May 19th 2008, during Olympics, some classes of dangerous products are forbidden on all North China.

Shipments of Wines and Spirits to/from Hong Kong

Following a decision of Hong Kong Government, as from June 6th 2008, it will not be anymore necessary to apply an export/import permit for wines and spirits if the alcoholic strength is not more than 30%.

So it is necessary that a clear description of the product is provided on the B/L : alcohol type – (ex. Brandy, Gin, Whisky etc) with mention of th`e alcoholic strength..

Prohibited Shipments of Dangerous Products to Istanbul / Odessa

Please note that the following classes of Dangerous Products are forbidden on these destinations : CLASSES 1 / 2 / 5.1 / 5.2 / 6.2 / 7.

- USA -

PAX / GAX / GMX Sercives - Terminal Change - Great Britain -

These services will now been served from Great Britain from port of Thamesport instead of Southampton.

Containers destined to Southampton will be subject to oncarriage charges from Thamesport.

High Security Bolt Seals for Containers destined to USA

As from October 15^th 2008, following a decision of US Port Authorities, all containers destined to USA will have to be sealed with bolt seals that meet the ISO PAS 17712 standard.

Booking Cancellation Fee

As from June 23th 2008, implementation of a penalty for booking cancellation.

Applicable in case of 3 successive bookings cancellations on sailings within five working days of the vessel cutoff.

Penalty amount : USD 300 / booking applicable for the third and any subsequent cancelled bookings.  

- USA via Canada -

Empty Repositioning Fee

As from May 23th 2008, cancellation of this surcharge for standard containers from Midwest States.

This surcharge remains applicable for temperature controlled containers.


- Mexico -

BAF - Import

Amount as from July 1st 2008 : USD 200 / 20’ – USD 400 / 40’ / 45’.

Inland Transports Mexico - Weight Limitations

Mexican Federal Government implements a new regulation on Road transports in Mexico as from June 1st 2008.

This regulation concerns weight limitations and also Double Chassis which will be obliged to only route via toll roads

thus increasing costs. 

OOCL will apply the following weight limitations :

- Standard containers 20’/40’ :

.21T500 (cargo weight + tare) - Double Chassis

.Over 21T500 to 25T (cargo weight + tare) - possibility to load on Single Chassis at a 10% surcharge over Inland Tariff.

-Temperature controlled containers :

.23T750 (cargo weight + tare) – Single chassis.

Export to Russia – Bills of Ladings

All BL without address of Russian Consignee and/or Notify Party companies will increase the risk that customs do not allow to discharge containers in Russia.
