Revised Dates for Thesis Submission and Defense
1. SUBMISSION DEADLINE. Supervisors are notified that these are the final dates for thesis submission. . No theses will be accepted after the date posted.
DATE: MAY 28

2. INELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT: Students who are judged to be unready to submit on the basis of work accomplished: Notification must be sent to the Vice Rector one week prior to scheduled date for submission. The student may be granted a deferral of three months, once only. If notification is not provided the student twill be judged to have terminated his/her thesis process.

3. ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT and PRE-DEFENSE: Students judged eligible to submit will be notified of the time of their pre-defense. The pre-defense is a 15 minute presentation of the main argument and results oi thesis research.

The presentation will be followed by questions and suggestions for minor improvement of the work. The examiners will decide immediately whether the student should proceed to a defense of the thesis and if so a time will be assuaged. In exceptional circumstances the examiners are authorized to require additional improvements over a period not to exceed two months, prior to examination.

THE FINAL DEFENSE OF THE THESIS will be held on 9 and 10 June. The defense will consist of a 20 minute presentation followed by a period of questions not to exceed 15 minutes. Candidates will be notified of the results of the examination after all candidates presenting on that day have been heard.

Publication Requirement. Candidates are advised that theses presented beginning in 2022 will be considered by the Examination Board for publication in our thesis series. If recommended, candidates agree to work with editors of the University Press to bring their theses to publishable standard.
