The skill of opting appropriate words in translation.

Annotation: As we know a skillful translator should have an ability to choose suitable words to translate any texts. This article explains choosing appropriate words in translation in order to create a perfect target text and compare the word differences with a helping of novels and fairytales.

Words. They express some kind of meaning and they are effective communicative elements among individuals. People often express their feeling and opinions with the help of words. In fact, words can be divided into two sorts according to their meaning. To be more precise, they have positive or negative influence on the listener or if it is in written form, then, on the reader. Words may represent completely different meanings in diverse contexts. Here we may meet the following examples: big – enormous; beautiful – attractive. Analyzing them in the sentence to help us to see the difference:

She was wearing a beautiful dress. (elegant) You did a beautiful thing in helping those poor children. (kind)

She is a very attractive young woman. (appealing) It was an attractive offer. (beneficial)

Even though these words, namely, adjectives or other words seem to show the same expressions, they are differentiated their deep sign by the context. According to context the words should be chosen appropriately avoiding misunderstanding or inappropriateness. There are a lot of word types such as antonyms, synonyms, homonyms or collocations, phrases. It is clear that based on whether in speech or in written form they ought to be chosen properly.
