My plans for future
family
Life is full of dreams and aspirations, yet there has to be a solid plan in place to transform the fantasy to reality. For people like me who tend to prioritize and plan ahead, the task is simple. After carefully thinking about the goals I have, I have concluded that I have one main goal with a short-term goal that in turn will open the door to larger goals. By surviving my freshman year of college with at least a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) while working a full time job, I can boost my confidence and build up a solid foundation for future endeavors in college. I could probably name a thousand reasons why I decided to go back to college. But, the main reason is for my future family. College is very important in our life. Without education the only job out there is running a cash register for minimum wage. It is hard to make a living on low income. Believe me, I know because I have tried to do it. I wanted to be able to provide a better life for myself as well as my future family. I want my kids to have more than what I had as kid. Growing up my dad worked carpenter, and he used to get not that much money from his job. My mom never works; she took care of the house cook, laundry, clean, and a lot more. We are three kids and I am the oldest. My dad had difficult time to provide us with everything we need. We would wear the clothes for while tell we get a new once. It is unforgettable memory for me and my brothers, but it was a happily life in the same time.
Profession
I am going to tell you about my future profession. Choosing a career and getting a job are two things, any person passes through in his life.
When millions of young people leave school, they begin an independent life. Some of them start working, go into business; some of them keep upgrading their schooling to receive higher education.
Young people can learn about professions in magazines and advertisements. Magazines for teenagers often offer questionnaires, quizzes to help young people to find out their interests and abilities more clearly and to make a decision concerning their future occupation.
While choosing a career one should take into consideration all main possibilities that his future profession might provide: the profession must be interesting, one have to be sure of his future (that means that one will be able to find a job after his graduation from the university or institute), a profession must be well-paid, otherwise you won't be able to support yourself and your future family.
During our school life, we begin to think about our future life, our job. There are many professions in the world, so it is quite difficult to choose and make a decision. Some follow their own choice; some follow parent's advice, because they can help concerning future plans. I never had a question, what I was going to do, when I was finishing my school. I have known it since being a child that I want to bean interpreter. I have chosen this profession, because the importance of foreign languages and foreign cultures is growing nowadays. Foreign languages are needed as the main and the most efficient means of information exchange between the people on our planet. Although there are 3000 languages on the Earth, English is the most universal and widely spread. It is the language of science and technology, trade and cultural relations and business. It is the universal language of international aviation, shipping, sports and medicine. English is the official language in nearly forty countries. It is spoken by more than 350 million people and also spoken as a second language in many parts of the World. Besides, millions of people study English as a foreign language. In our country English is very popular. It is studied at schools, colleges and universities.
It is important for me to learn English because I want to know what is going on in the world. With recent advances in technology, the world is changing rapidly in many fields, such as business, arts and medicine. These changes will affect people soon and it's important forme to read and keep up with these changes. In fact, lea riling English is the answer to a lot of the questions that I have.
In conclusion, I would like to say it is a great advantage of choosing our future career being a school pupil. It gives us a goal and enables us to choose a right, suitable course of study. It gives u.s time to be prepared. Also, I'd like to mention that if we don't think about our future, nobody will think, so we just can have one way. We must work hard to realize our wishes, because future is purchased by the present.
If you want something be done well, do it yourself, make a right decision.
Health
The Healthy People 2010 project was launched in 2000 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The goal of the project was to identify critical areas of healthcare and to initiate programs serving each area by the year 2010. There were 28 “Chapters” or areas of focus identified by the project. Each chapter dealt with the following four areas; Goals, Objectives, Determinants of Health, and Health status (USDHHS, 2010).
In today’s challenging economic times, people and governmental entities cannot always afford to pay for everything they might want. If the government only had enough money to fund 10 of the 28 areas of focus, they would do well to choose those areas whereby they could receive the greatest return on investment in terms of national health.
Preventative medicine programs offer exceptional return on investment. According to Cameron (2009) of the Harvard Medical School, a 2009 study found that preventative medicine programs in the Boston area returned $36 for every $1 invested. While all of the 28 areas of focus are important, centering on those programs related to preventative medicine are likely to bring the most benefit from limited funding. There are seven areas of focus in the Health People 2010 project that relate directly to preventative medicine. They are as follows:
1 Diabetes
Diabetes is a significant health problem in the United States. There is also a high cost associated with maintaining a treatment protocol as well as the potential costs of blindness or amputation. Diabetes (especially Type 2) is very preventable and rigorous education in this area could save a lot of health costs later.
2 Educational and Community-Based Programs
Community-based health education programs are a great way to spread the message about health living.
3 Immunizations and Infectious Diseases
Proper immunizations and the prevention of spreading infectious diseases are both paramount in overall public health.
4 Nutrition and Overweight
This is a huge (pardon the pun) public health issue in today’s world. According to the Centers for Disease Control (Sherry, 2010), the overall obesity rate among American Adults was 26.7% in 2009. This number far exceeds the Healthy People 2010 goal of 15%. Obesity causes a wide variety of health problems, and reducing it would save the healthcare system a lot of money.
5 Occupational Safety and Health
Notwithstanding the national unemployment rate of nearly 10%, most people in America work. Keeping the workforce safe and healthy not only affects healthcare costs, but also has an impact on productivity and the nation’s GDP.
6 Physical Activity & Fitness
It is no secret that many Americans live a fairly sedentary lifestyle. Unfortunately, this fact also includes children who may prefer TV, computer activity, or video games to baseball and other outdoor activities. Getting America outside and exercising could have a huge impact on overall public health.
