emotion. It is not grammatically linked to other parts of a sentence.
Bah! Damn! Eek! Good Lord! God bless yer! Heavens above! Yikes! Hey! Ouch!
Oh no! Poppycock! Rubbish! Stuff and nonsense! D’oh!
Well that was easy, wasn’t it? We’re not even going to bother to say, ‘Don’t
overdo exclamation marks’ at this stage, because there’ll be plenty of that when
we get to punctuation (see
