I’m applying to the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program for its financial and social benefits. It’s great that I’ve discovered this program that offers to subsidize the cost of education, since I can offer my skilled service to my community in exchange for your financial investment in my education. Another reason I’m willing to participate is the potential networking it offers. I want to meet change-makers around the world committed to their different specializations, each motivating and driving another. This will help me get inspired to be a leader and think differently.

I’ve been to a European country, as well as an Asian country before, and preferred the European life standards, education and culture. Since I aim to study international relations, I consider Hungary a unique destination with an interesting political background. When I studied the pre- and post- WW 2 international relations, the Eastern bloc countries seemed extremely interesting to me. Especially given Hungary's history of post-WW2 demographic and economic stagnation, and how it’s managed to stabilize its economy so successfully make me want to learn international relations from their perspective. I plan to do a research fellowship in one of the Western European countries after finishing my masters.

I’m interested in cultural hegemony and leadership topics in particular, since these two seem to take the form of each other, even though they’re distinctive phenomena. European experience is perfect to study leadership from, since it’s the region/continent with the most international relations activity, with impactful treaties, blocs, organizations and political structures are associated with. I expect to research leadership and hegemony from the European perspective, taking on the Eastern and Western schools of thought.

My undergraduate education in banking minoring I economics have laid a solid foundation for me to understand complex global phenomena in terms of economics and finance. Having taken quantitative methods, research methods, econometrics, international finance and other courses have helped me expand my perception of the world affairs and research them by quantitative means. I’m ready to transition to a graduate international relations program, since I have a background in world economy, which will be a great starting point to study world political relations.

I aim to study regional leadership in Europe so I can research ways Uzbekistan can become a regional leader within the Asian and Central Asian region. The analysis and knowledge of analytical methods to learn international relations along with how leadership takes place will help me identify blocks to Asian leadership and figure out ways to lift them.

The Central Asian region is a stagnant, lagging economy with multiple countries pulling back one another. Even though we’re a part Asia, the difference between Central Asian and Eastern Asian countries is day and night. Uzbekistan in no way compares to China, Kazakhstan can’t compete Japan and South Korea. The geopolitical and geographical factors create a unique puzzle for our region to figure out ways of development, and I need knowledge, experience, practice and education in international relations to address this issue. My primary goal of studying in Hungary and choosing international relations is to figure out ways to support leadership and a shift in the Central Asian region.

I can’t guess what challenges I might face in Hungary, since I’ve experience adapting to new cultures, and am a very easy-going, tolerant person. So, the new culture shouldn’t be a challenge for me. It will probably be harder for me to keep up with the pace of a rigorous graduate program in international relations. I’ll do my best to study hard to maintain outstanding academics and achieve thorough education.
