From approval to discipline
Evaluative feedback was the most dominant feedback type found in the data, consisting of approving feedbackand disapproving feedback. The next example (1) is a common way of showing approval by the teacher. The class is going through grammar and the perfect tense, and the teacher has asked a pupil to translate the English sentence into Finnish. The teacher does not wait for someone to offer to participate, but instead instructs one pupil at a time to do it, giving out turns one after another.
