Analysis

• 
  Create an analytical framework to answer the question. Use the relevant concepts/models in answering the question.
  
• 
  This is macroeconomics so use diagrams. There are very few essays in macroeconomics that would not be greatly improved by having at least a couple of clear diagrams.
  
• 
  Where relevant to the question, present evidence and use examples.
  

Sources

• 
  Extend your reading beyond the basic textbook material. A good essay will provide a synthesis of the relevant literature. It will not simply paraphrase the textbook.
  
• 
  Ensure that arguments, facts, quotations and tables are properly referenced.
  
• 
  There should be a bibliography set out in appropriate fashion at the end of your essay.
  
• 
  Only put down what you have read and used in writing the essay.
  

Style and Presentation

• 
  Ensure that your work is clearly legible (class exercise). All work should be free of grammatical and spelling errors and show correct use of paragraphs.
  
• 
  Read through and check the whole of your work before you submit the final version.
  

FORMAT

1. 
   Word-processed Times New Roman/Calibri 12 or Arial/Cambria 11, double-spaced and printed single-sided on A4 paper.
   
2. 
   The cover sheet should state your name, module title and Lecturer’s name
   
3. 
   Maximum number of words should not exceed 2500 words inclusive of quotations, footnotes and appendices but exclusive of bibliography.
   
4. 
   Include a contents page giving the headings and page numbers of each section.
   
5. 
   Pages should be numbered.
   
6. 
   Word-count must be included on the cover page (do not include attachments and bibliography in the word-count).
   
7. 
   Please do not submit any loose pages.
   
8. 
   Use Harvard method of referencing
