Rock music

Rock music is a special sociocultural phenomenon that appeared in the second half of the 20th century. Most experts agree in this opinion, which is explained by the appearance of not only a new musical direction, but also a whole subculture.
On the one hand, rock embodies the contradictory and even rebellious moods of the young, their opposition to the existing norms, shown in music. On the other hand, this is another element in the world of show business, the only goal of which is commercial profit. The whole history of rock music consists of such cycles, at the beginning of which new values arise, disagreement, protest, and at the end – commercialization.
Nevertheless, rock is not just a new life and music trend. This is a kind of philosophy that contains its own values and style of behavior, the so-called “rock and roll lifestyle”.
Electronic music

Any music, including electronic music, is based on the sound reproduced with the help of various musical instruments: both completely digital and electromechanical. Of course, sound production is not limited to them alone. There is also special equipment used to create, convert, process and reproduce an audio signal. For example, synthesizers, soundboxes, sound cards and the most common audio systems. In the last century electronic music was treated as a mindless experiment. This was due to the negligence of the new sounds both in the USSR and abroad.
However, the sudden surge in popularity of the analog synthesizers in the 1970s led to their mass production and to the public introduction of the love of unconventional music. Due to the relatively fair price, synthesizers began to be used everywhere: many musicians of the classical genre started to add synthesized parts to their works and thereby won enormous appreciation of the general public. At the beginning of the new millennium electronic music has become a separate art form that has spread throughout the world. There were such independent genres as dubstep, EDM, nu-rave and others. Currently such product is quite a popular and profitable occupation of modern sound producers.
Chanson

It is not always easy to determine whether a song belongs to a particular style. The line between pop composition and chanson is very transparent.
At the turn of the 19th century, and the following centuries, French cabaret singers included chanson genres in their repertoire. In the 20th century they became part of French pop music. In a song the cabaret genre and the realistic direction coexisted and renewed, mutually influenced each other.
In classical chanson much attention is paid both to the melody and to the text, its content. Each work is a dramatic life story. The performer is the author himself – chansonnier. This is the crucial principle.
The young generation of French chansonniers – “new chanson” – are the successors of model musical traditions: the role of the text, the semantic component is great, just as before. At the same time, in the young chansonniers’ compositions one cannot fail to notice the influence of the modern light music. Folklore motives are boldly combined with electronic elements and rock.
Jazz

Jazz is a cultural phenomenon of the 20th century. Its origin and formation starts in the 1910s, in the southern United States.
Jazz is gaining popularity and expanding its geography. The developed countries starts to show interest in it. The original style of playing was influenced by the regional musical characteristics, they added originality to this direction. In the 1920s jazz began to be identified with popular music, but it kept itself apart from the commercial music industry in the United States.
In the first half of the 20th century this music style is actively developing and changing.
The jazz as we know it was created in the 1950s, it finally formed as a style.
A set of features is distinguished in jazz, they can be found in most varieties of this genre:
swing,
expressiveness,
improvisation,
reliance on rhyme,
using frets with blues notes.
Finally jazz crossed the border of the contemporary art sphere and took one of the main positions. This style remains incredibly popular today.
