Mirziyoyev responded to Lukashenko's remarks
January 13th at an enlarged meeting of the Security Council, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev commented on the remarks made by Alexander Lukashenko, a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, at the CSTO meeting.
"Yesterday, some heads of state made an unfounded (unconfirmed) statement that the Republic of Uzbekistan should learn from the events in Kazakhstan.
We are closely monitoring the situation in the region and all the security threats.
We have enough strength and capacity to respond appropriately to any threat and strike", the head of state said.
For information, a video conference of heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held on January 10 this year. In it, Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled Belarus for 28 years and suppressed protests by force, said that Uzbekistan should learn a lesson from what happened in Kazakhstan. If lessons are not learned, the focus could be primarily on Uzbekistan. This statement by the elderly Belarusian leader has angered not only political scientists, but also the general public and ordinary people in Uzbekistan.
