The object of the work.
Authentic materials are materials that we can use in the 
classroom and that have not been changed in any way for ESL students. As a result of 
the researches carried out and the surveys conducted it has come out that there are 
many advantages in using the authentic materials. at the same time, there are a few 
disadvantages that teachers and students should be aware of when using different 
sources of authentic materials such as newspapers, tv programs, menus, magazines
the internet, movies, songs, brochures, comics, literature, etc. the paper shows how 
authentic materials can be used at any level in accordance with the students’ needs 
and knowledge.
The aim and the tasks of the work.
The aim of the work is to show why we need 
authentic materials? Therefore we can count the following tasks of the work: 
-“Real” language exposure with language change/variation being reflected 
- Students are informed about what is happening in the world
-Textbooks tend not to include incidental/improper English and become outdated very 
quickly
-The same piece of material can be used for different tasks
-Ideal for teaching/practising mini-skills-skimming/ scanning
-Contain a wide variety of text types, language styles not easily found in conventional 
teaching materials Encourage reading for pleasure, likely to contain topics of interest. 
The objectives of this paper are: 

To study theoretical base of authentic materials 

To understand what techniques we can use in this way of teaching 

To create lesson plan with using of authentic materials 

To learn how to use them effectively in class 



In the course paper following methods were used: 

Method of scientific research 

Investigate different literatures 

Descriptive method 

Contextual method
