Over the past few years, distance learning has gained popularity among the students and online courses are recognized differently by them. Majority of students realize this as a helpful support in the process of learning, while others consider that those courses are not as much effectual as classroom teaching.

In the following paragraphs, advantages and disadvantages of online studying will be discussed in more depth.

There are some merits to have distance learning. Firstly, students can attend a course at any time, from anywhere and there is no time limit. Working students can learn subjects no matter what their work schedule might be. Secondly, online learning enables student-centered teaching approaches, every student have their own way of learning that works best for them. Thirdly, the merit of studying online also extends to money-saving. Students don’t have to pay for building maintenance, food service, and other necessities. Fourthly, online learning is free from boring lecture methods, it includes other methods like demonstration, project methods and so on.

On the other hand, learners may suffer from several demerits of virtual learning. To begin with, there is no relationship between student and teacher. They have to learn alone. Concept cannot be understood without the help of instructor. In the second place, internet packages nowadays are so costly. Thirdly, slow internet speed is the biggest failure in the process of studying online. Fourthly, some students are not provided with smartphones or laptops, which cannot be affordable by everyone.

In conclusion, distance learning can be advantageous regarding flexible schedule, lower tuition. However. Virtual learning also demonstrates its disadvantages, which related to learners’ conditions and the lack of interaction with instructor.
