  (1994)  examined  the  status  of  human  development  in 

Karnataka  State,  mainly  focusing  on  primary  education,  literacy,  health  infrastructure 

facilities, fertility and mortality, economy of the states and work participation rates of the 

state.  The  report  also  focused  on  district  level  variations  in  human  development  with 

reference  to  three  indicators  of  development  such  as  education,  health  and  poverty 

alleviation.
