Given these findings future studies may be undertaken in order to continue building on the current body of 
knowledge.
LIMITATIONS 
While the sample size was very small, nearly all general managers in the population responded. As a result 
an accurate representation of the Five-Star, Five-Diamond Taiwanese general manager population was obtained.
However, the small sample size does preclude generalizations to a large population. 
The extensive nature of the Career Theory model developed in this study proved a challenge for researchers 
in developing a concise survey instrument. As a result, portions of the model were excluded for this initial survey, 
but are expected to be incorporated into future studies. This study was limited in that language training, gender, 
career mobility between corporations versus mobility within the same corporation, and entrance into the GM 
position from other industries were not addressed. This empirical study does, however, lay the groundwork for 
future exploration of the model and the population.
